What's for dinner this week

I went to the store yesterday and picked up a few things but I really have to go back today or tomorrow and do a real shopping trip.  I just dread going to the store lately.  Evelyn doesn't like to sit in the cart so it is hard trying to shop and keep an eye on her.  So, I am trying to cook ahead and get easy things to make so my trip are shorter.
This week I am planning on:
Monday- Chicken burrito's with cucumber salad
Tuesday- Sausage and peppers with pasta salad
Wednesday- BBQ chicken sliders with potato salad
Thursday- Sandwiches with chips or maybe tator tots
Friday- Homemade pizza with garden salad

I like the idea of the salads for sides because I can prep those during the day.  Evelyn has been skipping her naps so I have been making her at least take a rest time so I can get a break too.

I should be able to stay under my grocery budget this week and I had to buy laundry detergent and some cleaning supplies.

Shopping and suckers

Evelyn is getting harder and harder to keep in the cart while we shop now. She likes to walk, which usually means I'm trying to shop and chase a toddler with a cart.
Sometimes I let her walk and she stays by me, other times I just make her sit in the cart and she whines. Most recently I have found that she will sit for an abnormally long time if abc only if she gets a sucker. Other than fruit she doesn't have much sugar in her diet so a sucker every once in a while isn't so bad. And to make myself feel better I bought organic ones.
Well today I needed to get some shopping done at the mall and Evelyn refused to sit in the stroller so i let her walk and she did great staying by me. We passed a candy store however and she darted in looking for suckers. I let her pick one out and it turned her tongue blue. I let her look at herself on my phone and she thought it was so funny.
Oh and I should mention, she sat in the stroller the rest of the shopping trip.

30 weeks

Yesterday was my 30 week appointment. Baby boy is measuring right on track and is head down ready to go. I've gained 33 pounds and am really feeling heavy. My legs and feet hurt at the end of the day and I'm over all just pretty tired.
We had a quick ultra sound too. It was nice to see him again. It's still so strange to think that in just a couple of months I'm going to be holding a baby boy.
Today I did some more organizing in his room. I'll have to post pictures when it's all done. Just a few finishing touches left.

Planning ahead

Last night at dinner, Mike like always, thanked me for cooking.  He is always very appreciative of everything I do and is great about telling me.  He said, thanks for dinner, I appreciate that you cook every night.  Well, and that got me thinking.  I do cook every night.  We never have leftovers, I never cook ahead and if we really need a fast go to meal, I still make some type of sandwich with a side, but again every night I make something.
Right now it is ok.  I still have time and Evelyn is usually good about either helping (as much as a 2 year old can help) or she will play and watch tv while I am getting things together.  When the new little man joins our family in just 2 months, I don't know if I will have the time to cook every night like I do now so that really got me thinking about planning ahead.
This is what I did this week and I will see how well it works and hopefully come up with a system so that I have dinner on the table every night and also have time my main responsibility, the little ones.

Last night we had homemade pizza with salad.  I roasted double the amount of vegetables (zucchini, yellow squash, mushrooms, onions) and I cooked double the amount of italian sausage.  I used half on the pizza and put the extra away to use in pasta on Thursday.  I also washed all the lettuce, and made a big salad to have in the fridge.  I cut lettuce for taco's for Friday, and cut lettuce for hamburgers for today.  I also seasoned and pattied the burgers and froze the extra ground beef.    So, with just an extra half hour of prepping I have dinner pretty started for 2 days and a little bit of chopping done for another day.

I am going to look for other ways to plan ahead and hopefully I will end up having more time to enjoy the day and less time looking at the clock to get ready for dinner.

Weekly meal plan

We have been on vacation for the past week so yesterday was a big grocery shopping trip. We were out of everything.
This week I'm making:
Home made pizza with roasted vegetables, sausage and pepperoni along with a garden salad
Tacos with refried beans
Pasta with garlic bread
Hamburgers on the grill with oven baked french fries
Marinated pork chops with either rice or noodles and corn
In two weeks the farmers market starts back up so it will be nice to get more vegetables and the bakery there usually has great bread choices.

29 weeks down, just 11 to go before my due date.
Things are starting to move pretty quick now. The baby's room is set up and just needs the final decorative touches put on. I still have lots to buy but I plan on doing that next month.
I'm feeling pretty good. I have lots of leg cramps and stretching in my belly but over all I'm doing good.
We just got back from Alabama where we were visiting the in laws so I have sims new pics from our trip to share later.
For now though, here is an updated belly shot.
