Homemade Sugar Scrub

It is still winter and my skin has had enough.  I try to only shower once a day but, if I end up going to the gym later in the afternoon sometimes I end up showering twice.  I love hot showers too.  I know they dry out your skin but, it relaxes me.
My hands are the worse though.  I am constantly washing them that they end up getting so dry that they crack and sometimes bleed.
At night I apply Neutrogena intense hand cream and although it works it still is not enough.  I finally realized that I should start exfoliating my hands and applying hand lotion through out the day.
I came up with this diy exfoliating oil with 2 ingredients that I already had in the house.
Coconut oil and sugar.
I used Trader Joe's Organic Virgin Coconut oil.  It has such a great scent on it's own that I decided not to add any essential oils to make it smell different.  You could though.  Lavender would be great.

First I scooped out 1/2 Cup of oil, added it to a mason jar and melted it a bit in the microwave.

Then I stirred in 1/4 Cup of basic white sugar.

I let it sit for a couple of hours. Then I put some in a little container to keep by the sink.

It smells great and it really works.  You could make a bigger batch at one time.  For example 1 Cup of coconut oil and 1/2 Cup of sugar.
