Throw back Thursday DIY mustache cups

Not a long throw back but here is a picture of the mustache cups I made for Jack's birthday. I bought vinyl stickers from paypal and put them on clear Solo cups. I choose clear cups so the mustaches would stand out more.
I think they turned out really cute and everyone made comments on how great they looked.

Mike is out of town one day this week, then working late another night and I am going to the Justin Timberlake concert one night so I only planned 3 meals. A couple are new recipes so I will do a separate post with the recipes and the directions for them.

Lentil soup with garlic bread
Turkey burgers with sweet potato fries
Chicken and rice with cucumbers and tomatoes

Weekend Plans

It is going to be rainy all weekend so the plan is to get some projects done.  I am working on a new set up for the laundry room and I have some shelves to paint and hang.  I also have 4 baskets of clean clothes to put away.  Evelyn's room needs to be organized too.
And the big project is cleaning the garage.  It is a mess from the party and we really need to get rid of a bunch of random things that we are not using.
Wish us luck that we buckle down and get it all finished.

Jack's little man mustache birthday party

What a day it was! So much planning went into Jack's birthday and so much prep work but it was all worth it.
The menu for food was pizza's on the grill.  Each pizza was named after Jack.
Everyone loved them.  For drinks we had a margarita machine and beer for the adults.  The kids had a frozen coke machine, juice, pop and water.  Thanks to Uncle Will and cousin Evan for holding down the grill and taking charge of the food.
For dessert we had cake and a sundae bar.  The kids especially loved it.  For topping choices we had chocolate syrup, mini marshmallows, oreo's, nutter butter cookies, nuts, cherrie's and whip cream.  Evelyn helped pick the ice cream and she choose super man, vanilla and chocolate cherry.
Kids activities included water balloons, slip n slide (a bit too cold for it though) hula hoops, sidewalk chalk drawing, and a mustache pinata. They also played on the play scape in the back yard and ran around with squirt guns.
For decorations I made a timeline banner that had little ties on it and pictures of Jack growing up this past year.  Another banner by the pizza station that was flags and said Jackapalloza. I also had tassels by the fireplace inside and blue and mustache balloons throughout the yard and inside the house.  I made mustache cups for all the drinks.  Jack's highchair was decorated with flags and a 1 with a mustache.  I also made his outfits.  I used onsies and made tie's and suspenders for them. And I bought him new mustache shoes oh and I found mustache diapers from the honest diaper company. They were so cute.
Thanks also to my sister in law, Dana, for taking all of the pictures!

Just a quick outfit post that I meant to do last week.
We went to the Tiger's baseball game a couple weeks ago and I usually just wear a Tigers tshirt but I decided to dress up a bit since we were in the suite
I ended up wearing a navy blue and white striped dress with sandals.  I also used this blue big purse instead of a typical diaper bag.
The dress is from Forever 21 and the purse is from Old Navy.

I went grocery shopping today and picked up a bunch of fruit and vegetables. I think after last weekends prep for the food, I'm not feeling heavy from so much snacking and too many sweets.
I will have a recap of Jack's birthday on Wednesday.
I feel like all I have done is eat so I'm keeping things simple this week and having meals that don't require a lot of work.

Avocado blt sandwiches with fruit
Grilled cheese with asparagus
Spicy bean wraps with corn on the cob
Pita pizzas with fruit
Breakfast for dinner, eggs, pancakes and bacon

Next week I'm thinking about a low carb menu. I have a lot of new recipes pinned that I'd like to try. If you have a favorite of yours please leave me a comment.

Happy 1st Birthday lil man Jack!

My little man Jack is 1 today.  He came into this world sunny side up, with the cord wrapped around
his neck crying and as happy as can be.  I am feeling very emotional about this birthday because this year has just went by too fast.  I have spend countless hours just staring at him and watching him grow.
Jack is sweet and funny and his smile lights up the room.  He gives baby cuddles and kisses and loves to be held.
He started crawling at 9 months and has been on the move since.  Although he hasn't officially started walking, he is cruising the furniture and is actually running with his walker.
Dadda is his favorite word to say and I am still waiting for him to say Momma.  He also is learning baby sign language and is starting to use his signs more and more.
He is a great eater.  His favorite foods are peas, noodles and chicken.  He also loves yogurt and cottage cheese.  He is still nursing and recently started having some whole milk.
Sleeping has been pretty good too.  He takes 1 nap a day that lasts around 2 hours.  He goes to bed at 7pm and is up at least once a night and wakes in the morning at 7am.
He is my little buddy and I am so very happy to spend my days with him.

Today we had dinner and Jack was too tired to have cake or open gifts so he went to bed early.  His party is on Saturday and we have tons of fun things planned.  I'll post pictures and give a do a full blog entry on Sunday.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JACK!

These are his 1 year pictures.  I can't decide which ones are my favorite so I am posting lots of them.

5 Years!

Mike and I celebrated our 5 year anniversary last night.  5 years already, crazy?! So, much has changed in our life and I couldn't be happier.  I am blessed to have such an amazing husband and family.
We went to dinner, ate and enjoyed some delicious champaign.
It was a great night.

And here's a look back on how it all happened.
The proposal, Mike took me golfing, hid the box on one of the holes.  I of course hit an amazing shot and it hit the box.  We walked up the the hole and he said something I can't remember and I said yes.  :)

Celebrating in the parking lot.

Our big day! It was everything and more.

Thank you Mike for the man that you are and for loving me unconditionally.  I am so happy to get to spend the rest of my life with you!

These are some pictures of the Tigers baseball game we went to over the weekend.
We sat in the champions club and we all had a great time. Both of the kids love going to the games. Evelyn actually watched most of it on her seat.

Busy week scheduled. I have lots of party planning to finish up.
I did the grocery shopping yesterday and spent a bit more than usual. We were out of a lot of pantry essentials like olive oil and brown sugar.
This week we are having:
Tacos, turkey and lentil tacos. Fruit on the side.
I'm trimming and marinating chicken for 2 days and then going to grill it. One day we will have salad with it and another day I'm roasting zucchini and carrots and maybe tator tots.
I have a dentist appointment this week too so that night I'll just make a couple pizzas. Cheese and a veggie one.

That's about it. Pretty simple and easy.

Cheers!

Happy 4th of July and Thank you to all of our military men and women!  It is because of all of you we are able to celebrate this day!

We had a great day yesterday.  It started off at the gym for a quick work out.  Then Mike and I took Evelyn out for lunch.  After lunch we came home and got ready for a pool party and a family members house.
The kids loved the pool and had a great time.  After the party we came home and Jack went right to bed.  He was whipped out from the day.  We had a fire and did some fireworks and finally got to bed at midnight.
What a great day!  Today we are heading to the baseball game.  Hope you are all enjoying your weekend!
Cheers!
